AnchorGreat birthday treatI booked this restaurant as a surprise birthday dinner for my step dad. The staff were really great at keeping the surprise to the point where we gave them 2 booking names and they pretended to show hi to a table for 2, with 2 menu in hand only to find us all seated around the corner - he had no idea! They looked after us all really well, even allowing us to bring and eat our own birthday cake! We had 5 children aged between 1 & 10 in our group and they were all well catered for. The pub filled up quickly with lots of families but the staff were great with the children. Our waitress was both effective and pleasant. We had a great two course meal and quite a lot of booze for about £25 a head including tip. I have nothing bad to say about our dining experience. Could do with blinds in the South facing windows as the sun was low in the sky and intermittently rather dazzling. A bit of a wait for food tho' drinks arrived promptly and accurately. The food choices were varied and the special menu tempting (sadly the lamb shanks had disappeared by the time we ordered).
As it was a madly busy day, the wait was to be expected. The food when it arrived was tasty and well presented. Can't fault the wait staff as they were unflaggingly efficient and always had a cheery smile. All in all a pleasant meal.
