Albert's Shed Ratings and Reviews
I loved it the first time round...
Me, my mum and sister went to the restaurant during lunch hour; after making a reservation. The restuarant was surpisingly quiet compared to previous occassions and there was a relaxed atmosphere to the place. We were greeted warmly and escorted to our table. The food was nice and reasonably priced considering the quality. The waiters/waitresses were friendly whilst waiting on us face-to-face, however, the service as a whole was a dissapointment this time round. Considering the restaurant was quiet, we felt we were ignored and the staff spent more time preparing the tables for the evening service rather than attending to the existing customers in the restaurant. Myself and my mum had to go to the bar to command their attention whilst all the staff grouped around the bar area chatting amongst themselves. There was a couple next to us, whose food was served cold and it was obvious to someone with an obident eye that they required waiting on. I myself have worked in a silver service restaurant; and although this restaurant may not provide such service, I feel a lot more could have been done to improve the customers experience.
Outstanding service at a lovely restaurant
After many recommendations from friends, I finally booked to eat at Alberts with my family for my sons graduation. It was a busy Sunday evening but the restaurant had a lovely ambience. Our waiter was outstanding, so pleasant without being overbearing. Attentive and really made the whole evening very enjoyable, a patron to how all waiters and waitresses should be, I value good service and he provided it, sorry I didn't get his name. The meal was nice. My children had pizzas which looked lovely, my husband had the steak and I had the lamb skewer salad. If I had one small thing to pick about, it would be that one more skewer would probably have made the meal better value for money. My daughter is coeliac and with this on the increase, I would encourage the restaurant to consider providing more wheat free options. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant and we will certainly be back. The 3 course Sunday lunch option at £17.95 looked excellent value for money so I reckon we will try that sometime not too far off in the future. Keep up the good work!!
The food was unbelievable (I had the Malayan chicken, others on my table had the steak and goats cheese salad) presentation was great so first impressions were high standards, the service was fast and amazing, our waiter was there for everything we needed, I put my empty glass down and he would be straight over pouring me another glass of rosé. Unbeatable restaurant a little expensive but you can't complain about price when you recover such amazing service and exceptional food!
The story of how Albert's shed was founded drew us to this place. Excellent food, great service, lovely surroundings and superb value! Definitely worth a visit and we will be back.
Great service, good food, ok wine.

Lunch at Albert's Shed
It was my wife's birthday so we decided to go into town for lunch. We love Albert's Shed and so decided that would be our choice. As usual we were greeted with a smile and made to feel welcome by the young ladies at the door. We chose a table near the canalside windows and after taking our seats we ordered our drinks . Service is great at Albert's , we've never had to wait more than a few minutes to have our orders taken and the waiters are always very attentive and friendly. The food was great, we had the lunch menu which is extremely reasonable at £11.95 for two courses and there is a good choice of starters and mains. We both chose "sticky" ribs to start which were perfect with the meat simply falling off the bones. For main course I had Albert's fish, chips and mushy peas, and my wife had steak frites. Both were piping hot and tasted wonderful. Despite feeling like a beached whale , I ordered a Black Forest Sundae from the dessert menu which was to die for!! All in all it was another wonderful experience. Can't wait to go back again.
Whilst a little tricky to find, this was fabulous food with exquisite desserts especially. It was also great value for money with great service...
A warm welcome
A warm welcome awaits visitors and diners to Alberts Shed in Castlefield. Friendly helpful staff. Beautifully presented and tasty food. Good choice on the menu and specials every day. Plenty of room inside the venue so not squashed in.

Absolutely amazing!! Me and my girlfriend went to celebrate her birthday, and we hadn't been before. We were taken aback on not only how great the staff were but how lovely the food was! Me and my misses are big steak lovers and are a little picky.. But wow we were totally amazed by the steaks and everything else we ordered and will definitely be coming back!! Going is a must!!
Saturday afternoon lunch venue - excellent !
Visited here last Saturday with friends. Everything about the experience was just how you'd want it - the Service, food and if you're eating before 4pm then the 'early bird menu' is fantastic value. Definitely a return venue.
I have been to Albert's Shed & Albert's Worsley several times and always enjoyed fantastic food & service. This time was different though. I've recently given up gluten & was worried about what to expect. I needn't have worried. Yes, options were limited, but our waiter was friendly & helpful. When he was unsure regarding the soup, he happily went to check. They offer gluten-free pizzas, & there was one other main I could choose from the lunch menu. For dessert, I was told they could prepare me a fruit salad (which wasn't on the menu) or get me some ice cream or sorbet with fresh fruit. I'll certainly be back.
Lunch for 9
9 of us booked for lunch Saturday 7th November, fantastic food & service even though we had a vegan in our party nothing was too much trouble will defiantly be going back soon.
Fab would highly recommend
Great menu, service and ambience. Really superb food. Would go again when next in Manchester. Great location too.
Excellent friendly and efficient service.
I only rated the food very good rather than outstanding, because I personally made a poor choice which in hindsight I wish I hadn't made. Everyone else in the party of 6 would have rated their meals outstanding. The restaurant always has a pleasant atmosphere and dining is an enjoyable experience.

From entering the restaurant to leaving the experience was very good - attentive service, great food and drink.
We visited on a Saturday night and the restaurant had a fantastic buzz and feel. Food was delicious and service was excellent. We couldn't fault it and will look forward to our next visit!
Always great food here and excellent customer service and value. One our meals wasn't cooked as we'd like but it was no problem to dirt and the staff were very apologetic for the experience. They rectified efficiently and courteously. Great choice s on 2 courses menu and even let us have it even though we got stuck in traffic and got there after six.

A group of 4 adults. We went for the 2 course lunch, really good value and the fish and chips were very tasty. Service was good and pleasant atmosphere throughout the restaurant. Would definitely recommend the restaurant.
Dreadful 2nd time round
We came here 3 weeks ago on a Sat eve and had a fabulous meal and evening. Came back with another couple and were extremely disappointed this time round. I ordered same dish as last time and it was dreadful - ossibly a different chef??We waited almost 45min to be seated at our table when we arrived on time (6pm) for our booking and also tried to rush us out the door when we finished despite being almost 1hr late ordering. Won't be coming back here again which is a shame as its a lovely place
great as always
Nice food, good service and staff very attentive. Table wasnt ready when we arrived but sat on the comfy chairs and didnt have to wait too long. This place caters for everyone no matter what your age or event.
Great Experience & Value for Money
Albert's Shed, whilst I have only visited a few times, has always impressed. The food and service are always on point and after being to restaurants of similar quality more recently, I realise just how amazing the value for money is. With very generous portion sizes for the price (especially their sunday menu), and not-too-overpriced drinks - I can't really recommend this place highly enough.
Our first impression of the place was go...
Our first impression of the place was good. The menu was varied and interesting and the staff were helpful and cheerful. However the scallops for my wife's starter were, although cooked perfectly, far too overpowered by the flavour of the bacon, black pudding and sauce. My wife then had the venison main which was delicious however my king prawn linguine was far too heavily laced with chilli and so any other flavours that may have been present just could not be tasted. I'm afraid we won't be returning as this experience is one we wouldn't risk repeating.
I have eaten here many times and have never been disappointed. Great choice of dishes for all tastes. The lunchtime special is great value. Good selection and reasonable portions. Wine selection and prices good as well. I can recommend the espresso martinis as well !!!
Went to Alberts shed straight from work to celebrate mine and three friends birthday. As always the service was sublime which is what keeps me coming back to this particular venue. Our waiter was great, he brought us a complimentary drink for our birthday 🍷 Which was a nice gesture , the food was spot on as always and we had a really nice time , we weren't rushed at all and had a good laugh. I can't recommend this place more highly ! Thanks to all xx
Second visit and the formula is exactly the same showing consistency of food and levels of service. Staff are welcoming and attentive. Great variety of choice for each course. The only thing I didn't like was paper napkins especially as there are linen table cloths.
Waitress was very efficient, she seemed to look after many other tables as well. Made the children feel valued, made sure we were ok for drinks. Excellent Food, Chocolate Volcano too much for one person! Bill came to less than expected, good value for money, superb food and great service.
Recommended - fab!
Having been recommended by a director at work to try Albert's shed I am so glad we did - I will be back in May in Manchester so will be popping in again - great food, great service especially catering for my husband who is coeliac, you should be proud of yourselves, thank you!
Lovely food, very tasty and fresh, well presented and a good portion. Wine was fabulous and great atmosphere, romantic but not overly so. Best thing was the service. Our waiter couldn't do enough for us but wasn't in your face either, we didn't have to fill our drinks once and wait for anything, he was exceptional
Great food, great value, great service
Not been for a while and have to question why, the food was excellent the atmosphere brilliant and the waiter was superb. Special occasion and son made feel like a king. I have to say if they let the waiter or the chef go then they are making a big mistake. Top notch service great value and food recommended.
Visiting the city, we saw the great reviews that Albert's Shed gets, and decided to try it. While it was a good experience, there were a multitude of problems. We made the mistake of ordering Manhattans -- a somewhat "American" drink. The bartender obviously didn't have a clue, but instead of just admitting that, we received two strange drinks that bore no resemblance to what we ordered. We decided to not ask that they be remade, but let our server know the issue. We were surprised to see them on the final bill. Much of the food was fantastic, but the fish cakes were pretty bad -- although maybe we're just not fish cakes people. We received one wrong order, but it was quickly remedied. We ate on the patio -- which was great, except for the smokers at the bar next door. All in all, this felt like a "good effort" -- although not the polished upscale experience we expected.
Good but slightly disappointing.
The are lots of good things about Albert's Shed: the ambience, the place and by comparison to many places it's quite good value. The service was very friendly too. The food was ambitious but the result was disappointing although as my partner said "good for Manchester". She is far more critical than I am being a chef. The monkfish and scallop red curry was an unsuccessful interpretation of the dish; it was creamy with a flavour of cocunut i.e. quite pleasant but very mild. The tragedy was the lobster, so smothered in butter that the delicate taste of the crustacean was lost. By the way I did like the gluten free garlic bread (thank-you) however the rest of the UK butter mountain was on it! The butterless scallops were great though. With a bit more attention to detail, and possibly a few more staff, this place could be brilliant.
Really really lovely
This is the second time we have dined at Albert's Shed, the first was an evening meal wilth family where the restaurant was really busy but the food was magnificent and the staff were so friendly and efficient. This time my wife and myself booked for a 4 pm pre-concert meal. Only the lunch munu is available from 12-4pm, this is a very slimmed down version of the dinner menu, hi ever there is no slimming down of the quality as the meals were delicious and again the staff were absolutely wonderful. Between us we had a three cours meal each, I quaffed two large glasses of Chillean Cabernet Savignon and a filter coffee and my wife had a long fruit cocktail drink, a glass of proseco and a chocolate orange latte. I was shocked when the bill arrived for £58, our last similar meal in Manchester at a similar restaurant was £100. We will most certainly be back again. Well done everyone at Albert's Shed.
Went to Alberts shed for my parents 25th wedding anniversary. Food was incredible and service was even better. Lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend the beef roast dinner and the sea bass with risotto. 10/10. Definitely coming back.

Fab birthday only made more special the entire dining experience at Alberts shed! The staff totally went above and beyond to add a cherry on to my birthday day! Thank you c
Loved it 🍝🍺🍹
First time there will diffo go again staff was polite atmosphere was lovely will be back soon
Alberts Shed Friday night
Food was OK. Outside seating was lovely. Waiter gave us the wrong bill that was £40 more expensive than it should have been. Got the right bill, gave him the money and he didn't give us the change back! Wont be going back for a while.
Family birthday meal
We chose Alberts shed to celebrate my daughters birthday. We had a table for 730 for 6 people. The service was fantastic very attentive and friendly and the food as always was a delight. I had rib of beef which melted in my mouth I recommend this venue above all others , it's simply a lovely place to spend time with friends or family and enjoy some of the best food in manchester

WOW. One of the best meals I've had in a long time. We eat out all the time and thought we'd venture into town to try something new for my wife's birthday and we were very impressed by this place. Great waiter, great food even though it took longer than expected but that was quickly saved by the manager sending free drinks to our table before we had a chance to complain. Will def be going back for more!
This is a very nice, clean and modern looking restaurant. Good range of unusual tasty dishes and quite well presented. If the service was a bit quicker (especially the front desk) and the food a served a little hotter, it would deserve five stars. Having said that, when you cut through the hype that many other restaurants undeservingly benefit of, in my experience there are not many restaurants in Manchester better than this one.
Lovely family outing ...
We all enjoyed a super sunny Sunday birthday lunch at Albert's Shed. My two small granddaughters were delighted to be able to assemble their own pizzas even though it was busy and we thought they may not get the opportunity to do this so thank you. Surprise glass of bubbly and cake a very nice touch! Would have lingered longer but had a canal boat schedule to stick to!
