Albert's DidsburyBrilliant Service!Went here for our Anniversay - what a night! i had read mixed reviews, mostly good i might add but mixed all the same so i went in with an open mind. We arrived early and were shown to our table immediately. Now granted it was a Monday Night so it wasn't overly busy but there was still a fair few people in. I had requested a booth and mentioned it was our anniversary when i booked which was 5wks beforehand. The lady who greeted us took us to our booth and wished us both a Happy Anniversary - its things like that, that mean a lot & make a difference! Our waitress was very attentive and made our whole night feel special, she couldn't do enough for us and i only wish that we had got her name! Food was gorgeous and cooked to perfection! The service was very good and efficient throughout. The food was cooked to a good standard and we thoroughly enjoyed each course. The venison was tender and the dauphinoise potatoes were absolutely delicious (could have eaten a whole plate!!) and creamed leeks complimented the dish well. The sticky toffee pudding was soft with just the right amount of sweetness.
We felt the meal was good value for money and we would definitely go back. This is my 2nd visit to the restaurant and once again the food, service and ambience was outstanding. The only slight negative was one of our party is disabled, with extreme mobility problems. We were unable to park in a disabled parking bay due to an inconsiderate diner (without blue badge) parking there. I did mention it to a waitress but due to the restaurant being very full, nothing was done. It would have been nice for feedback from the waitress. Anyway, it didn't spoil a superb night. We had a couple of drinks (without queue's) at the bar while waiting for the table but this was due to arriving early and not that the table wasn't ready. Atmosphere was great and generally a good feeling.
Once seated, the waitress was very friendly and patient with us. The food choice was perfect for our liking and standard of food was A1. Time between courses and drinks service was also perfect. We were struggling to hear each other due to the music being too loud whilst waiting for a table. The steaks are juicy and tender and full of flavour. Huge range of pizzas but with more exotic toppings than the norm. The duck, spring onion and hoisin sauce pizza is scrummy! Again, the sides are different than the norm and all are so tasty, the leeks & pancetta are a real treat. Alberts also specialises in great cocktails. The selection is huge and they are so reasonably priced. The spiced Mai Tai and the Singapore Sling are amongst my favourites. Fridays is half price champagne day, what more can I say!

The staff were courteous and attentive without being in your face and the food was excellent.
I had rabbit gnocchi to start followed by the venison while my wife had prawns and haddock risotto. Each dish was great and a good portion size.

Even on a busy Saturday night (16th March) the staff were welcoming ,efficient and helpful. The three course Mothers Day meal was outstanding! I had Roast Pork complete with crackling and apple sauce...yummy. Unfortunantly I didn't have room for my dessert but the lovely waitress ( sorry I can't remember her name ) boxed it up and let me take it home! I love Alberts and am already planning my next visit. The starter and main were absolutely fantastic! The dessert was very good but not quite as good as the other two courses.
The atmosphere was very nice, but the acoustics were not very good. It tends to get very noisy in there, as the restaurant is laid out as one big room.
The service could have been outstanding had we been left to eat for a longer spell of time. Every 5 - 10 minutes the friendly waitress topped up our glasses and asked if we needed anything. She was very friendly, but we would have liked to enjoy our food and our conversation without her interruptions.
Albert's is a lovely restaurant and we will go back there! It is, however, not quite the right place to go if you're going out to have a chat.09/03/2013 00:00:00
