It was a pleasant surprise. The location is great (right on trafalgarsquare) and the menu was varied so there was something for everyone. We opted for the set menu although we had the option of a50% off the a la carte. The food was delicious and the service good. The only downside was the diner next to us who seemed to find fault with everything! The staff were amazingly patient......

The service however is rather slow. We waited about 10 minutes for our bottle of wine which was luke warm on arrvial. We were later told they did not have any cold bottles of that partuclar wine. The waiters are all very friendly and smiley - but slow and easily distracted. Saying that, the food is wonderful, the location perfect and the decor very cool. Was a bit concerned that it would be empty on a Tuesday night, but right in the centre of Trafalgar Square it was bustling with great service and great food. I used the 50% off all food deal, which was just as well as the meal still cost me £150 (but we didn't skimp on courses or drinks..) The whisky menu really impressed the birthday boy (that was the reason that I chose the place) and the food was really good, and came to the table in good time. We have a very relaxing, enjoyable evening. And we certainly weren't disappointed. Despite arriving 10 mins late, we were welcomed warmly & promptly seated. As well as wine, I ordered a whiskey flight to accompany our meal. When I asked the maitre d' if I could substitute one for my favourite alternative, he couldn't have been more accomodating. The food was outstanding. We had cullen skink & haggis to start, and both had duck for main, which was cooked to perfection. The portions were generous without being overfacing & beautifully presented. Sadly we didn't have room for pudding. With the TT 50% discount the bill came to about £70 including service - incredible value! My wife had taken me there to celebrate my birthday before we went to the theatre. The service was great as the waitress took the time to carefully answer all of our questions and checked in on us consistently. The steak was cooked perfectly, accompanied by some fine Scottish whiskey, followed a great Cranachan. My wife enjoyed the Barmbly Apple Crumble. It was a great way to celebrate my birthday in an iconic location such as Trafalgar Square.
